In fact, most people have a messy profile that creates confusion with a million different things with no clarity.
Less is better.

Because we have microseconds to grab people's attention.
There's no room for question marks.
You work hard on creating content that brings people to your profile - and people LEAVE your profile and do nothing if they can't understand who you are, what you do and how to work with you.

Here's what you need to update and make crystal clear:
1. Get a great cover photo (no AI generated photos)
2. Add a website link to drive them to your website
3. Have a clear job title and a brief summary of achievements in your current and latest roles
4. Design a banner that represents you well (this should make people instantly know what you do) because this is your personal BILLBOARD - make sure to make an impression!
Again: less is better. You donβt want to have 7 different things on your banner.
The banner should tell your visitor:
- what you do
- for who you do it for
You can also mention something that builds more credibility.
Or how you work.
Make it personal and to the point.
Hereβs mine:
5. Update your summary:
- Add bullet points
- Add spacing
- Add a list
Write a scannable About section.
No PhD.
Less is more.
6. Create your FEATURED section to promote yourself. This is where you build more trust, brings people closer through a great lead magnet or newsletter and add a call-to-action (CTA)
- remove the best performing post (itβs not what will bring you inbound)
- put 2-3 of your offers in the featured section
7. Create a compelling tagline that describes what you do + makes people curious to check out your profile
This is one of the most important things to be intentional about as this works as your traffic driver when you make comments on the platform.
8. Ask former clients/managers/board/colleagues for recommendations
