🫠 I hate small talk - here's what I do instead

I hate small talk.

I don’t enjoy events.
I don’t like conferences.
I don’t care for awkward conversations over bad coffee.

For me its a waste of time.

Let’s be honest:

Most meetings at those type of events don’t lead anywhere.

I used to dread it when I was employed. Now I can decide for myself.

What I do like?

Networking online.

Here’s what’s worked for me:

  1. I post consistently on LinkedIn

  2. I comment on other people’s posts

  3. I reply to DMs and start conversations

  4. I am consistent

  5. I ask people if they want to sign up to this newsletter

  6. I teach what I know, and people refer people they know

ā•ļø

That’s it.

No travel (I love traveling but not to events)
No small talk.
No forced networking.

This approach helped me build a strong network and clients all over the world.

šŸ“Œ 1.5 years ago my face turned up on Times Square….

Me in Times Square šŸ˜„

It was a campaign I did with Attio.

Happy to announce that they are the sponsor of this edition.

AI-native CRM

ā€œWhen I first opened Attio, I instantly got the feeling this was the next generation of CRM.ā€
— Margaret Shen, Head of GTM at Modal

Simple makes you money. Complex makes you busy.

But here’s the part most people miss.

Your LinkedIn profile has to do its job.

Your posts are the invites.
Your profile is the conversion point.

If your profile is unclear, generic, or outdated, you’re leaking business.

Think of it as your online storefront.
Your best sales rep.
Working 24/7. Even when you’re offline.

What actually matters:

  1. A headline that clearly says who you help and what you solve.

The headline is what often determines if people click to see your profile when they see you in comment sections.

  2. A banner that explains your value in one glance.

The banner alone should make people understand: who you are, what you do and who you help.

  3. An About section that tells a short, skimmable story focused on outcomes.

(don’t tell people your whole life please 🫠)

  4. Social proof that builds trust.

Results, achievements, accomplishments, experience, numbers, awards….

    GET IT OUT THERE

  5. One clear next step.

Book a call. Download something. Visit your site.

No clarity = no conversion.
No posting = no traffic.

It’s simple math.

This is how I built a 6-figure business.

Not by being everywhere.
But by being clear, consistent, and human.

If you hate small talk too, build your network online.

Just make sure your profile is ready to convert when people click.

Keep it simple āœŒļø
