EVERYONE in this world have realised that the best way to the market is:

To build an audience through your personal brand.

And owning your own distribution.

I’ve been helping people build personal brands for 2 years.

Here are the reasons why people can't monetize their audience.

This is what they do:

  1. They only post educative content.

It becomes boring to follow someone like that in the long run.

That to me is not a personal brand.

  2. They post about themselves all the time.

    → This is SUPER common.

    It’s never ever about us.

    It’s ALWAYS about them.

You need to make your content about THEM.

  3. They can’t stay consistent and give up too easily.

Building an audience is a long game.

Some see results from the first post, for others it takes longer.

There are many reasons for this.

    But that’s a different topic.

The consistency everyday has INSANE compounding return.

  4. They try to monetize too soon.

    Don’t.

    Please.

You need to earn the trust from people before you ask anyone to buy.

Building thought leadership, authority, credibility and trust takes time.

You wouldn’t walk up to someone on the street for the first time, and expect them to buy from you, would you?

    This is the same.

    Give loads of value first.

    And never stop.

  5. They think LinkedIn is a billboard so they don’t interact with people.

Post and forget is simply not possible anymore.

If you’re only posting content and not commenting on other people’s content → don’t build an audience.

  6. They sell in every post.

The more you try to sell, the less you will sell.

  7. They don’t ask people to buy.

If you don’t know how to ask people to buy, how to update your LinkedIn profile, or tell them what you offer and how to work with you - you won’t monetize your audience.

  8. They don’t reply to comments.

You won’t build an audience if you ignore people.

  9. They treat every post like a PhD and wants every post to show how smart they are.

When building a personal brand you need to have distance to yourself.

And be willing to understand the platform you are building on.

Combine strategy and what works on the platform you’re building on.

  10. They are scared to share opinions and be themselves.

Opinions, observations, hot takes, your values and your view of the world is what makes a personal brand.

If you’re too worried about what other people think, or want to be liked by everyone, don’t build a personal brand.
