🔥 Reflect on your f**k-ups from this year

8 Questions to turn into fuel for 2025

We do not learn from experience...we learn from REFLECTING on experience. ― John Dewey

I’m a big fan of reflecting on my experiences, good and bad.

And learning from it.

I saw that quote from John Dewey in Sahil Bloom's newsletter.

It's so true.

Reflection is VITAL for our growth and progress.

Sahil also shared 7 simple questions to perform a personal annual review which I found super helpful.

We have 3 days left of this year:

Take some time to ask yourself the below questions, reflect on the year that passed, what to learn from it and set new goals for next year.

Turn mistakes and failure into lessons and fuel.

This is how we get a head start next year 🚀

Here they are:

1 - What did I change my mind on this year?

My answer:

It’s many, I’ll pick one:

I was a bit sceptic to sell pdf's (guides/ebooks) and if it really had the potential to become a revenue stream: “would anyone buy them?”

I was proven wrong. Completely wrong. Selling pdf's on Gumroad has become a BIG revenue stream for me. It's also what I teach when I coach people how to build a lean profitable online business; build multiple revenue streams and a clear value ladder.

This was the bestseller this year:

What is a value ladder? A value ladder is a marketing strategy that is designed to take customers on a journey from a low-priced entry-level offer to a high-priced premium product.

2 - What created energy this year?

My answer:

  1. Betting on myself and being my own boss

  2. Hiring my husband

  3. Sponsoring a tennis court in our local summer community

  4. Working from anywhere

  5. Having more time for my family

  6. Seeing my face on Times Square, New York

  7. More time to travel and work and experience amazing places

  8. Building my own dream (not just someone else's)

  9. Did several cool partnerships this year: HeyGen, Fiverr Pro, Gong, Engage Health Group etc

  10. Freedom 🙏 There is no better feeling than building my own thing and setting my own rules.

I constantly remind myself:

I’m living my dream.

3 - What drained energy this year?

My answer:

  1. Not firing a contractor (total disaster) fast enough

  2. One time ignoring my "don't work with ass-holes" rule and bringing on a client I shouldn't have onboarded to Huntrs (all good now and won't happen again)

  3. Seeing how many people who give up too easily before they've even started. This is a serious problem in our society as a whole that will make a lot of people easily replaced by AI. Humans have become lazy.

4 - What were the boat anchors in my life?

Boat anchors include:

People who put you down, belittle, laugh at you, or diminish your accomplishments, questions your ability → (DON'T bring these people with you to 2025)

My answer:

  • For me it’s: ignoring limiting beliefs.

No one in my family has been an entrepreneur. I've always worked for entrepreneurs and made other people rich. In 2022 I decided to bet on myself and build my own business. It's become so much better than I ever thought it would. I will always, always keep the startup mentality, stay on my toes and keep on crushing limiting beliefs and challenge myself to thing bigger and aim higher. No one will ever put me in a box again.

Now I get to help others build their business AND at the same time build my own. A huge win-win!

And:

Continuously remind myself of ignoring the noise out there and run my own race (there’s a lot of noise out there).

If you get distracted and start listening to it, you can easily get lost.

Focus and consistency will take us to where we want to go 📈

5 - What did I not do because of fear?

My answer:

I will flip this a bit.

I had a big fear that I decided to act on and it also generated great results.

Let me explain:

Before starting my own business, I was a Sales Leader. I've spent the majority of my career working in sales and tech. So, just like many of the people I coach, I had my identity in that area. I asked myself: if I’m not that sales leader anymore, selling those kind of services - who am I?

Those are scary thoughts to deal with.

We are so attached to our career.

It’s our identity.

Which made me have one foot in each camp.

One day I decided to just:

f*ck it, I’ll go all in on what the market is asking for.

That turned out really well and gave so much more clarity to my offering as well which brought in more clients.

It turns out: I’m not only a sales leader, I’m also an entrepreneur 🤠

We can be whoever WE decide to be.

6 - What were my greatest hits and worst misses this year?

My answer:

..Ooooh there are so many, here are some the biggest ones for me:

Hits:

  1. Building out our done-for-you services (by far my biggest win)

  2. Freedom and being my own boss

  3. Growing this newsletter

  4. The revenue in my business doubled this year and we managed to keep the company lean

  5. I've doubled my followers on LinkedIn. Went from 100,000 to 205,000 followers in one year

  6. Creating systems and processes improved everything significantly

Misses:

  1. Didn't manage to build audience on Instagram like I planned this year. I will do that in 2025. This is a priority.

  2. I wanted to publish another guide this year but didn’t have the time in December. I will in January.

  3. I wanted to launch a newsletter course but haven’t found the time yet. January ✌️

  4. I don’t have too many regrets to be honest. You win some, you lose some and we always learn. And we turn it into fuel.

7 - What did I learn this year?

My answer:

I’ve learnt loads since I went out on my own. It’s a crazy 🎢 and so much fun. It’s really hard and requires my full attention. Which is perfect for me. Otherwise I get bored. This is the first time in my life that I’m not planning my departure or my next gig.

Entrepreneurship is HOME ❤️
