- š When did "working hard" become a dirty word?
š When did "working hard" become a dirty word?
Growing up with a single Mom shaped how I look at work

This was 2Pacās breakup letter written to Madonna on January 15th, 1995, 9.30 AM in the morning.
He wrote it from prison.
When was the last time you wrote a handwritten letter?
Was this email forwarded to you?
How did we get here?
Everyone's talking about burnout and overwork these daysā¦ā¦.
And I get it.
If you're working yourself to the bone (building someone elseās dream) and not seeing results, thatās one thing.
ā
But since WHEN did working hard become a BAD thing?
Whatever happened to loving the work?
When we LOVE what we do, why wouldnāt we give it our all??
When weāre passionate about something, work doesnāt feel like work.
Itās about creating, building, and making something bigger than ourselves.
Thatās why I truly think that everyone should build something of their own.

āyouāre pro hustle cultureā
I have a message to people who say "youāre pro hustle culture":
Every successful person on this earth have worked their a** off to get to where they are.
The burnout convo has really become ridiculous and toxic.
Letās get something straight:
Working hard does not equal burnout.
Because working hard is never the problem.
People get burnt out when they work on things they donāt give a shit about, when they donāt have the resources and capacity to deliver on unrealistic goals.
ā¦aaand people get burnt out when they don't recharge.

My perspective on hustle culture and working hard
Nothing was ever handed to me.
I come from very humble beginnings.
And I have worked my a** off to get to where I am.
I still do.
Why?
Because I LOVE what I do.
Always have, always will.
Even more now since I started my own business.
I've been building businesses for other people for a long time.
And I know and I've seen how quickly things can turn around.
So, no I won't:
- log off at 5PM to keep other people happy
- aim for āwork-life balanceā when in reality everyone who has ever built anything great knows thereās no such thing as work-life balance
- stick to the traditional 9-5
- pretend to have a hobby when I really donāt
I will work when I want.
I will do other things when I feel like it.
Example:
- I donāt do client calls before lunch - thatās the time for deep work for me
- If I want to go for 3-4 hour walks during work hours, I will
- I travel a lot with my family because we can and want to experience things together
Work is a natural part of my daily life.
They go hand in hand.
Exactly how I want it to be.
This is freedom to me.
That's what I LOVE about running my own business.
And no, it doesnāt mean I neglect my family.
Itās actually the opposite, I spend much more time with them now than I did when I was employed by someone else.
I decide what fits my life.
And so should you.
And everyone else too.
So, let's stop judging people.
And just let people do their thing.
Life looks different for everyone.
If someone wants to work during the weekend or on a bank holiday, let them.
If someone wants to finish work 5PM sharp, and not build something of their own, let them.
ā
I have no plan to ever work for anyone else ever again.
So to make sure I donāt, I work hard.
But that doesnāt mean I donāt recharge and rest.
I recharge.
Plenty.
(I love to relax in 5-star hotels and Iām really good at it too š)
So, check out the playbook I used to build the life I always wanted.
Hope it helps you on your way.
