Most people love to complicate things and make them sound super complex and hard.

Many are chasing the wrong things when building an audience.

Sure, going viral helps but…

The truth is:

  • You don’t need to go viral to build an audience.

  • You don’t need to do it like everyone else is doing it.

To grow on social media you need 3 things:

  1. A clear profile that represents you well

  2. A content strategy and posting regularly

  3. Being active on the platform

🚂 If you want to grow and are OK with growing slower:

Post 3 times per week.

🚀 If you want to grow fast and efficient:

Post 5-7 times per week, and spend time on the platform and comment on other people’s posts.

Is 2026 your year?

If 2026 is the year you will start building your personal brand and audience, you should start with asking yourself these 3 questions:

  1. What do you want to be known for?

    Pick 4-5 topics, e.g. entrepreneurship, personal branding, future of work, leadership, career, go to market.

    Break each topic into 20 subtopics. Now you have a content library.

  2. What is your goal with building an audience? 

    Choose one main outcome, e.g. inbound leads, position yourself as the go-to in your industry, a new job, building your network, hiring, partnerships, learning, one day starting a business...

    Having a clear goal makes it easier to work towards your goal.

  3. Who do you want to grab attention from?

    Define who you want to grab attention from.

The better you understand their pain, goals, needs, what they want to achieve, what lifestyle they want etc - the better you will be able to grab their attention.
